Quetta: The Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) proudly showcased its cutting-edge research and technological innovations at the Indus Robotics and Autonomous Systems (RAS) Expo 2026, reaffirming the University's growing role in advancing robotics, artificial intelligence, and autonomous systems in Pakistan.
The two-day national event was organized by Ignite – National Technology Fund, under the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, in collaboration with the National Center of Robotics and Automation (NCRA), of which the Control, AI & Robotics Lab (CARL), BUITEMS, is a partner laboratory.
The Expo was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of Pakistan and attracted more than 30,000 visitors, including representatives from industry, academia, government organizations, startups, international delegates, and technology enthusiasts, making it one of the country's largest robotics and innovation exhibitions.
The BUITEMS delegation was led by Dr. Anayat Ullah, Scientific Director, Control, AI & Robotics Lab (CARL), who represented the University at the prestigious event. The BUITEMS team showcased several innovative technologies developed by researchers at CARL, demonstrating the University's commitment to addressing real-world challenges through indigenous technological solutions.
Among the innovations exhibited were the Snake Robot, designed for survivor detection beneath rubble in disaster-affected areas to support search and rescue operations; AdRover, an intelligent mobile robot capable of delivering targeted advertisements and providing real-time advertising analytics in shopping malls and public spaces; and the Minion Bot, an interactive companion robot designed to educate and entertain children by answering questions, narrating stories, reciting poems, and engaging them in learning activities.
The exhibition provided an excellent platform for BUITEMS researchers to interact with leading technology companies, investors, and industrial partners. During the event, the BUITEMS team held several productive meetings with representatives from industry to explore opportunities for collaboration, technology transfer, and the commercialization of robotics solutions developed at the University's Control, AI & Robotics Lab.
The participation of BUITEMS at the Expo highlights the University's commitment to fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry-academia collaboration while promoting research that contributes to national technological development.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, congratulated the National Center of Robotics and Automation (NCRA) for successfully organizing the Expo and encouraged the organizers to make it an annual event to further strengthen Pakistan's robotics ecosystem by bringing together innovators, researchers, entrepreneurs, and industry under one platform.
BUITEMS' successful participation in the Indus Robotics and Autonomous Systems (RAS) Expo 2026 reflects the University's continued leadership in emerging technologies and its dedication to producing innovative, industry-driven solutions in robotics, artificial intelligence, and autonomous systems.
