The Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) hosted the inaugural ceremony of the Provincial Media Fellowship Programme, organized by the Women Development Department, Government of Balochistan, in collaboration with Strengthening Participatory Organization (SPO) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
The programme aims to strengthen journalists' capacity for ethical, balanced, and gender-sensitive reporting on issues such as gender-based violence (GBV), child marriage, and the rights of women and children.
Addressing the ceremony, Secretary Women Development, Ms. Sahera Atta, highlighted the media's role in driving positive social change. Vice Chancellor BUITEMS, Prof. Dr. Khalid Hafeez, emphasized that responsible journalism is essential for protecting human rights, promoting social justice, and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The event brought together government officials, media professionals, faculty members, students, and development partners, reaffirming a shared commitment to ethical journalism and community development.
