Governor Balochistan Distributes Laptops Among BUITEMS Students Under Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme

Quetta, May 11: Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail stated that under the visionary Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme, thousands of students across public sector universities in Balochistan are being provided laptops to empower them with modern digital tools and connect them with the rapidly evolving world of technology.
He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony held at Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences regarding the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme. The event was attended by the Education Minister, Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani, the Parliamentary Secretary Excise, Muhammad Khan Lehri, the Principal Secretary to Governor Balochistan, Abdul Nasir Dautani, Prof. Dr. Khalid Hafeez, Vice Chancellor, BUITEMS. Pro Vice Chancellor BUITEMS, Prof. Dr. Arbab Mirwais Kasi, BUITEMS’s faculty members, and a large number of university students.
Addressing the ceremony, Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani highlighted the importance of digital education and modern learning opportunities for students, emphasizing the provincial government’s commitment to strengthening higher education and youth empowerment in Balochistan.
In his address, Prof. Dr. Khalid Hafeez, Pro Vice Chancellor BUITEMS, appreciated the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme and stated that access to technology plays a vital role in academic excellence, research, innovation, and professional development. He noted that BUITEMS remains committed to providing students with modern educational facilities and opportunities aligned with global technological advancements.
Governor Mandokhail appreciated the efforts of Shehbaz Sharif and Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan for increasing the laptop quota for Balochistan’s university students from 10% to 18%, ensuring greater opportunities for digital literacy and academic growth.
Highlighting future opportunities for youth, the Governor announced that he had recently met representatives of TANG International Education Pakistan and the National University of Technology in Islamabad. Their teams are expected to visit Quetta soon to launch technical and vocational training programs in around 100 modern trades. He stated that students completing these programs would receive recognized diplomas and certificates, enabling them to compete in modern professional fields.
The Governor emphasized that BUITEMS, with its modern infrastructure, smart classrooms, and experienced faculty, provides an ideal environment for advanced education and professional training. He encouraged students to fully utilize the laptops provided under the scheme for learning, collaboration, online education, research, and skill development.
Speaking about technological evolution, Governor Mandokhail noted that humanity has passed through the agricultural, industrial, and information technology revolutions and is now entering the era of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. He urged students to prepare themselves for emerging opportunities in the digital age and use technology to transform their future.
